3月8日加州订为义云高日

　(中央社电)美国加州州政府与旧金山市政府为表扬在海峡两岸宗教界、艺术界享有声誉的义云高大师，在绘画、书法、医术、宗教等方面的成就，宣布三月八日为义云高日。
    义云高年少时曾在大陆四川参研密教佛法，证境颇高。在书法、绘画、医术等方面也有杰出成就，曾于一九九五年荣获世界诗人文化大会所颁赠的特级国际大师证书。他也曾多次来台访问，在台湾拥有不少弟子。
    加州州长戴维斯特及旧金山市长布朗为表彰义云高大师的杰出成就，并对他为世人所做的贡献，将三月八日订为义云高纪念日。

(记者丘元智台北报导)据来自美国消息，继加州州政府与旧金山市政府双双颁订三月八日为义云高大师日后，旧金山市政府和市议会最近又分别颁发三藩市荣誉市民证、特殊就荣誉状，给义云高大师，表彰他在佛教、绘画、书法、医术等方面的全方位成就，堪称为华人之光。

不过，平日以利益众生为职志的义云高大师谦虚为怀，并未在美国接受此一盛誉表扬。

义云高大师是近代海峡两岸颇负盛名的大学者、艺术家、科学家，中国书画的造诣已达登峰造极的境界，是将中国书画推向世界的奠基者，在提升世界文化层次及伦理道德、人生宇宙哲学方面及促进国际文化交流所做的贡献，以及至高的道德风范，已赢得了国际人士的尊重和崇敬。尤其是在佛教上的成就，更为特殊，被称为全球最顶尖的佛教大导师。

义云高大师学识渊博，道德崇高，伟绩风范遮不住，连续获得了美国各界颁赠的殊荣证书，包括世界佛教总会、美国密宗总会、世界佛教正法总会、加州众议院、世界八十多所大学联盟等单位，显示义云高大师是难得一见的巨德，为人类所敬仰的典范。

值得一提的是，一九九四年世界文化大会四十八个国家地区代表，评选义云高大师为世界特级国际大师，由国际奥委会主席萨玛兰奇签发证书，在匈牙利公布，并致函中国大陆国务院等机构，官方特别在大师的家乡，兴建了中国历史上首座为活着的人修建的巨型皇宫式“七馆一部”的义云高大师馆，肯定他为人类所做的无私无我贡献。

在佛学、哲学多方成就杰出的义云高大师，此次获得美国加州旧金山市府表扬，市长布朗并将每年3月8日订为义云高大师日，成为东方人在美国社会史上难得殊荣。

以书法艺术备受赞誉的义云高大师，由于其绘画、书法、佛学著作深受肯定，1994年在世界诗人文化大会中，5612位专家学者经严格评选后，义云高大师获颁特级国际大师。而为表扬义云高大师在国际文化交流面的贡献，中国政府并为其修建义云高大师馆，正式列入国家行政编制的第一座大师馆。(记者王修文)

LAST March 8，it wasn't known where Master Wan Ko Yee was. Although he was not in Californiaat that time, his outstanding accomplishments, remarkable contributions andhigh moral character have added luster to the State of California.

Thus, the governor of California, Gov. GrayDavis, has proclaimed March 8 as “Master Wan Ko Yee Day."

The City and County of San Francisco havealso proclaimed March 8 in his honor. Only the most outstanding individual is speciallyrecognized and receiving two separate proclamations of this kind. Theseproclamations are not easily obtained. Only those with true abilities and outstandingattainments are able to receive them.

Master Wan Ko Yee is one of tremendousvirtues whose talents and learning are unsurpassed in the present day world. Heis a man of great knowledge who enjoys a high reputation throughout the world.

Based upon his extraordinaryaccomplishments in the areas of Buddhism，the humanities, painting, calligraphy and ethics, the World Poetsand Culture Congress, which is composed of 5,612 experts and scholars from 48different countries and regions, selected Master Wan Ko Yee as the world's only"Distinguished International

Master."

Based upon his overall accomplishments, thecentral government of the People's Republic of China, representing the wishesof the people, built a museum in his honor. This is the only museum built bythe government of PROC in honor of a person who is still alive. This museum hasreceived the admiration of and approval of cultural and academic institutionsfrom all over the world.

It is because he is a man of such preeminentdistinction that the Governor of the State of California and the City andCounty of San Francisco have separately proclaimed March 8 as Master Wan Ko Yeeday.
